The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are now official from Samsung. While the overall design language hasn't changed much from last year, the two phones do feature incremental hardware upgrades. The Galaxy S9 sports a 5.8″ display, Snapdragon 845 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage, a 12-megapixel camera, 3,000mAh battery and Android Oreo. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S9+ has a larger 6.2″ display, 6GB RAM, dual 12MP rear-facing cameras with OIS and a larger 3,500mAh battery. The US unlocked Galaxy S9 costs $719.99 and the unlocked Galaxy S9+ costs $839.99. It will be available in the U.S. starting March 16 with pre-orders starting March 2.

LG has officially unveiled the V30S ThinQ. I may look and feel like last year’s V30, the V30S brings with it 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and includes some artificial intelligence features. The AI camera analyzes subjects in the frame and enhances the characteristics of the subject taking into account factors such as viewing angle, color, reflections, lighting, and the saturation level. The LG V30S ThinQ will be on sale first in Korea. After that, it will be made more widely available later in March, with pricing to be determined locally.

According to recent leaks, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will carry high price tags, but honestly this isn't much of a surprise. With a straight conversion, the prices shown equate to $1037 for the S9 and $1229 for the S9+. However considering year-over-year trend, Samsung will likely add $75 to $100 to their retail pricing in the US, and instead, opt for something like $849 for the S9 and $999 for the S9+. Fortunately we don't have to wait too long to find out for sure, as these devices will be announced at MWC this weekend. Expect to see the most expensive Galaxy S devices to ever launch.

According to reports, Samsung has filed two trademarks for something called “Uhssup” and "Samsung Social." These could be their own social media service that could go against giants like Facebook. Sources claim that this service will let users share their location in real time and comment on other people’s location plus be capable of sharing chat messages, similar to Messenger. It is expected to be introduced with the Galaxy S9 February 25.

Today, Apple emailed iOS developers to announce that all new apps submitted from April 2018 onward must be built with the iOS 11 SDK and must support the iPhone X's new display. According to some developers, the notch isn't the issue. "The home indicator, the thin bar that's ever-present in the UI to let you know you can swipe up to go to the home screen or to multitask—is the real hassle." This announcement could indicate that the notch and style of user interface is here to stay within iOS.
