Facebook has announced a new feature called Marketplace that integrates directly into the existing social network's experience to facilitate the buying and selling of goods between users in a local community. Facebook states that nearly 450 million people already take part in this type of activity via various Groups and they only want to streamline the process. Interestingly enough, without getting involved in the transactions themselves. Marketplace is launching in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand via an update to the Facebook Android and iOS apps.
