Standard roofing doesn't provide fiscal benefit back to the homeowner, besides possibly improving the cost of the home. Tesla’s new products the Solar Roof and Powerwall 2.0 do just that, by generating enough energy to fully power a household and keep a reserve in case of excess need. The Solar Roof is made from quartz glass and should last two or three times longer than an asphalt tile. However, pricing is unknown, since it depends on installation specifics on a per home basis.
