According to sources, Apple is planning to adopt a new connector for iPhone, iPad and iPod accessories through its Made-for-iPhone licensing program. Apple recently launched a preview of the new connector to prepare manufacturing partners for the component that could potentially replace the use of Lightning and USB connectors. It's called the Ultra Accessory Connector and will allow accessory makers to save space inside their designs. Although, introducing another port option is an odd decision, especially since Apple faces backlash from removing the headphone jack from the iPhone 7 and switching to all USB-C ports on the MacBook Pro.
