Google Reveals Android Oreo And Features With The Solar Eclipse’s Arrival

With the arrival of the solar eclipse, Google has revealed the final name and consumer launch details of Android 8.0. The next iteration of the mobile operating system will be called Android Oreo. The company traditionally uses the names of sweet treats for its major releases for Android, including Cupcake, KitKat, Nougat and now Oreo.
Here are some new features Android Oreo contains:
Notification Dots: See which app has anything new to show you. A long tap on the app’s icon now brings up a menu with the last notification, shortcuts and a link to the app’s widgets.
Autofill: Allows third-party password managers to work directly with apps and web forms without having to utilize bypass methods.
Instant Apps: Provides access to applications for limited interactivity without requiring a download.
Android Oreo also includes 69 new emoji. These new additions are focused on better representing people and gender, plus adding some new fun characters like the exploding head emoji.
Google has done away with its blob style faces in favor of a more traditional-looking set of emoji. The company says it wanted to help avoid miscommunication by making sure emoji are as consistent across platforms.
Android Oreo is rolling out to Google’s Pixel and Nexus 5X/6P devices soon, with other devices to follow shortly.
