As part of the deal, Neistat will serve as an executive producer leading his 11 Beme team members into a new media sub-brand under CNN’s umbrella. Beme allowed users to share quick, short clips of video without edits but never quite took off like comparable social video apps. CNN is acquiring Beme with the intent of investing in the developers and content creators to create a new brand focused on a millennial audience. The battery can also be recharged more than 30,000 times without degrading. This can be applied to smartphones, smartwatches and even improve the range of electric vehicles. The technology is not ready for commercialization yet but it gives us hope that the hassle of charging our phones daily is closely coming to an end.
