It seems the tech world is ready for better Wi-Fi because today the Wi-Fi Alliance is announcing an update to its certification program for modern Wi-Fi devices. This will require all new products to support faster speeds, wider channel bandwidth and additional spacial stream while sending data to multiple devices at the same time. Routers that support these key features will be capable of delivering three times the speed of current devices. Reports state we'll start to see the first of these certified Wi-Fi devices appearing "in weeks."

Even though the UK’s exit from the European Union may have satisfied nearly 52% of those who voted to leave, don't count Samsung, LG, or Acer among them. These tech companies are already experiencing decreasing sales in the EU and due to these concerns, both LG and Samsung are reportedly thinking about relocating their London offices. In addition, due to this unprecedented event, the British pound has weakened, which could lead to increased prices of electronics.

Android phones are all over the place and Google doesn't have that much control over them. Outside of its Nexus devices even Google's software is altered with skins and overlays. However, an analyst stated that Google is concerned about Android fragmenting and that they mean to control more of the platform similar to Apple by releasing hardware along with their software. Google already does this with it's Pixel branded laptops and tablets. This is likely to happen with smartphones for a more well-rounded slate of products. Could we see a Pixel smartphone? We'll keep you posted.

Incipio just announced that it's buying headphone brand Skullcandy in a deal worth $177 million. The California-based phone case company is quietly becoming an accessory powerhouse with the purchase of backpack maker Incase and lead iPad case maker ClamCase. Incipio states that the deal won't erase the Skullcandy brand. However, don't be surprised if this leads to crossovers where some of Skullcandy's influence rubs off on Incipio's other gadgets.

Social networks are making a strong push for live streaming. Today, YouTube announced the ability to live stream content to its iOS and Android apps. YouTube mobile live streaming will be baked into the core YouTube app. Simply hit the capture button, take a photo to use as a thumbnail and then broadcast live to your fans and chat in near real time. YouTube’s announcement comes just days after Twitter's and Periscope's live streaming integration and Tumblr's announcement of similar capabilities.

The rules regarding flying drones in the U.S. have been relaxed, paving the way for businesses to fly legally in the country's airspace. Previous Federal Aviation Authority rules required commercial operators obtain a pilot's licence in order to fly even small drones. It now allows commercial drones weighing up to 55lbs to fly during daylight and lower than 400 feet in the air, or higher if within 400 feet of a taller building. While the FAA's rules have no impact on hobbyists, insiders predict a flood of drone-related businesses to take shape in the U.S.

Today the electric car company Tesla announced it's offer to acquire solar panel installation company SolarCity. Together the companies could allow you to outfit your home with solar panels that power a battery for your car and home. Their aim is to would be the world’s only vertically integrated energy company offering end-to-end clean energy products to their customers. Fun fact: Elon Musk owns both Tesla and SolarCity. Which means one Elon Musk company is offering to buy another Elon Musk company for $2.8B. Truly inspiring.
