LG just showcased its brand new all-in-one iris scanning module. The once popular Galaxy Note 7 had two separate cameras sensors for scanning the iris whereas LG will use a single module. This means it will be cleaner aesthetically, but more importantly, this means the size of the module is smaller. An LG official confirmed that the company will start incorporating this into next year’s smartphones, adding that “it is possible” the LG G6 will see an iris-scanner.

Standard roofing doesn't provide fiscal benefit back to the homeowner, besides possibly improving the cost of the home. Tesla’s new products the Solar Roof and Powerwall 2.0 do just that, by generating enough energy to fully power a household and keep a reserve in case of excess need. The Solar Roof is made from quartz glass and should last two or three times longer than an asphalt tile. However, pricing is unknown, since it depends on installation specifics on a per home basis.

For those still doubting that autonomous vehicles are going to be driving alongside us very soon, consider the first self-driving truck has successfully completed a delivery. Otto, the self-driving transport truck company owned by Uber, made its first delivery moving 50,000 cans of Budweiser beer over 130 miles from Fort Collina, CO to Colorado Springs. Otto’s technology includes $30,000 worth of hardware that can work with any big rig with an automatic transition. Expect self-driving technology to become much more common as manufacturers fight for position in this new category.

HOW TO PROPERLY INSTALL ANY SCREEN PROTECTOR WITHOUT BUBBLES IN 2016

Screens are one of the most commonly damaged parts of smartphones and given the cost that our beloved devices, it's understandable that you'd want to protect it. This article will provide recommended screen protectors and some basic instructions for installing them.

  1. Obtain a screen protector: Your screen protector should check three boxes of criteria. Scratch resistance, impact resistance and transparency for viewing. We recommend the RhinoShield Screen Protector for checking those three boxes while remaining reasonably priced.
  2. Locate a dust free workspace: This is vital for applying any screen protector without bubbles or debris trapped underneath. Minimizing the amount of dust in your environment will ensure a clean installation.
  3. Clean hands: Be sure to wash your hands before attempting installation. Hand sanitizer works best. Shake hands rapidly to air dry and remove excess lint. If drying hands with cloth, use a clean towel. Avoid paper towels due to lint.
  4. Secure your phone: Apply scotch tape to the back or your device to keep it from moving while installing your screen protector.
  5. Clean screen: The most optimal time to apply any screen protector is directly after removing the temporary plastic from your unused device. This is rarely the case as most of us are eager to use our new devices right away. However, you can use a small amount of rubbing alcohol or hand sanitizer to remove lint and fingerprints. If you do not have rubbing alcohol or sanitizer available to you, one trick is to use scotch tape to remove any excess lint from the surface of your phone.
  6. Align screen protector: Before removing the back plastic of your screen protector and revealing its adhesive, carefully monitor the position of any cut-outs. Be mindful of the position of any cameras, proximity sensors or fingerprints sensors. Then rest the screen protector over your phone's display.
  7. Remove air bubbles: When you are satisfied with the positioning of the screen protector, you can begin to remove any pockets of air. Cover a squeegee or credit card with a soft cloth. This is a trick used to reduce the drag and glide the card evenly over the screen protector. This is the easiest method for removing any air bubbles.
  8. Complete: If your screen protector has a surface protector to peel off after installation, do so. This will complete your screen protector installation guide. Great job!

You may have noticed things around the internet aren’t acting quite right. That’s because malware known as Mirai executed a DDoS attack on the web. This has some mainstream websites going out of whack. Netflix, Twitter and Spotify are among them. A Distributed Denial of Service attack is an attempt to make an online service unavailable by overwhelming it with traffic from multiple sources. With a third attack reportedly under way, we may be looking at a few days until this issue is completely resolved.

Elon Musk announced that all Tesla cars being produced as of today, will have everything needed to achieve Level 5 self-driving. This means that every Model S, Model X and even the more affordable Model 3 will eventually be able to drive autonomously at “a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver." The reason for doing this, according to Musk, is to increase driving safety and reduce traffic-related accidents. While the hardware will be included in all Tesla cars going forward, it will be an $8,000 add-on to enable the software.

The physical Home button of the iPhone was one of it's parts that failed the most. However, it seems Apple built in a safeguard in the event the iPhone 7 solid state Home button fails. If the new Home button fails, iOS 10 immediately sends a warning saying, "The Home Button May Need Service" and offers a software button workaround. Interestingly, we don't know what could cause the new Home button to fail yet, although, most likely it'd be related to the Taptic Engine. So far the iPhone 7’s Home button has been met with mixed reactions. Nevertheless, it’s reassuring to see that Apple has accounted for a possible failure with their new Home button this time around.

SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 7 REVIEW: BEFORE AND AFTER THE RECALL

<script>

<script>
By now you should be aware of the Galaxy Note 7 recall regarding defective batteries leading to internal explosions. Samsung has since pushed out a software update to all Note 7s, before and after the recall, separating the good from the bad. We exchanged our original device for a new one as requested by Samsung and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. But after all the ups and downs, is the Galaxy Note 7 still worth it? Find out in our video review.
Battery performance has always been in our favor on both of our units, however it is best that you exchange your device for the new one. The units with the newer, safer battery have a green battery indicator now. Samsung received special permission to do this from Google due to the circumstances.
<script>

<script>
If you are interested in purchasing one, you need be able to recognize a good Note 7 from a bad one.
battery-note-7-092016_rev1-800x420
First, you need to look for the green battery indicator on the phone. Second, will be the tiny square located on the box of any good phone. Third, will be the IMEI, any defective Note 7 purchased before September 15th will be flagged. These are especially helpful if you are buying the phone second hand.20161011_202004

But hey Let's face it: The Note7 is Samsung's biggest slip up. The phone itself is great — it may even Android's current best — but quality control issues kind of ruined its reputation.

[UPDATE] Since the launch of the Note 7, Samsung has been plagued with countless issues involving their latest phone. Following an official recall with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Samsung has replaced over a million defective units, however even the new units are having issues. According to reports, Samsung is halting the production of the Galaxy Note 7, at least for now. This comes just hours after AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon seized all sales of the phone.

Be aware that we had no issues with either of our Note 7 units but due to the circumstances, Techcellent News can no longer recommend this device. Such a shame, as the Note is actually a great device.

Google has begun testing drone delivery by sending Chipolte burritos to university students as part of its research into the future of unmanned deliveries. The Google team eventually wants to deliver medicine, assist firefighters and possibly deliver your shopping. Amazon is also working on unmanned drone deliveries in the UK so one thing we can be sure of is that commercial drone deliveries are going to happen. It’s just a matter of time.
