According to reports, Apple’s component costs for their new iPhone 7 have risen compared to the previous phone. This is due to newer components and technologies like the Taptic Engine, better cameras and storage increases. This means customers are technically getting more bang for their buck when they upgrade. Despite reports of a few iPhones having hissing sounds, Apple appears to have pulled off another successful iPhone launch with many locations sold out.

Your everyday commute could be in for a change, as Google launches a ride sharing called Waze Carpool. The service pays drivers $0.54/mile and limits them to two trips per day which means drivers are only encouraged to pick up fellow commuters on the way to and from their current job. The benefit would be getting paid for gas on the trip you already need to take. This results in significantly cheaper passenger costs when compared to other ride sharing services. Google has yet to announce expansion plans outside of the California Bay Area.

Blackberry CEO John Chen announced that the company "plans to end all internal hardware development and will outsource that function to partners." BlackBerry's hardware business has been losing money for quite some time and this is just the final nail in the coffin, officially putting an end to an era. In 2009, BlackBerry controlled one-fifth of the phone market. Today, it holds a fraction of 1%. Now the Canadian company intends to focus primarily on providing security-focus software to manufacturers.
