When Windows 10 launched in 2015, Microsoft gave users one year to decide if they wanted to upgrade to their new OS for free. While it is true that it had trouble launching with compatibility issues, a year is a long time in the tech-world and during that time Microsoft has been slowly-but-surely improving Windows 10. Well, that year has officially passed and starting today Windows 10 comes with a $120 price tag. Expect Microsoft to provide a huge Anniversary update sometime next week.

A reoccurring rumor states that the next iPhone will drop the 3.5mm headphone jack in favor of Lightning audio playback or Bluetooth connection. A report claims that Apple plans to bundle EarPods and a Lightning 3.5mm adapter with the next iPhones. The adapter looks exactly like what you might expect Apple to produce and isn’t supported by iOS 9 but works with the iOS 10 beta, further suggesting it's legitimacy. New iPhones are generally expected sometime in September, with current speculation pointing to September 9th preorders.

Elon Musk now has four new ambitious goals for Tesla to disrupt the entire auto industry. These goals include combining Tesla with SolarCity, building both a pickup truck and mini-bus, advancing autonomous-driving capabilities to be 10 times safer than human drivers and to create a ride-sharing business built around autonomous technology. Musk states that the idea is for Tesla owners to tap a button to "generate income" while you aren't using your self-driving car by loaning it to other people for rides. He also stated that he can see all this happening in the next 5 to 6 years.

According to reports, the U.S. Arm will soon be switching from Android to iPhone. Previously, the Army gave soldiers an Android Tactical Assault Kit, equipped with what was believed to be a Samsung Galaxy Note for it's multitasking capabilities. However, now the new kit will feature the iPhone 6s. Sources stated that the Android device struggled with custom, split-screen military software and had to be restarted often. If the Army used the original 2010 Galaxy Note then the switch makes perfect sense, the iPhone 6s is certainly the better choice.

Believe it or not, Facebook actually cares about your cellphone's battery life. Inside Facebook's data center are a series of server racks housing smartphones running a version of the company's many mobile apps. This Mobile Device Lab is designed to test Facebook's software on phones. Facebook has almost 2,000 Android and iPhones used to tell developers if their apps have any negative impact on phone memory, response times and battery consumption. An open casting call is currently asking for "100 of the world’s most talented app creators." It appears Apple is was working on a TV show about application developers. The show is cleverly named Planet of the Apps. It will be an unscripted reality show for developers to compete for funding, mentors and of course, free publicity. Think Shark Tank meets Silicon Valley. Contestants are required to have their applications in beta by October 21st so expect filming to start shortly after. Surely the show will be available on iTunes and AppleTV however, no word wether it will be available on cable networks or streaming services like Netflix.

Just 2 days after the game's release Pokemon Go was installed on 5% of all Android devices in the U.S. with similar numbers from iOS. Pokémon Go currently has more installs than Tinder and is trending to surpass Twitter's daily active users. Reports also state that users are playing an average of 43 minutes per game. This increased Nintendo's stock market value by 7.5 billion dollars in just 2 days. What's really interesting is that Pokemon Go hasn't even been released globally yet. It is so popular that servers cannot handle the load forcing the global release to slow down. Imagine the numbers after China and Japan get a hold of it.

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 is creating a crazy amount of buzz, perhaps more than any Samsung device before it. Hardly surprising due to the leaked images and many surfacing rumors. For example, it is said to be launching August 2nd – the earliest ever. Samsung appears to be skipping the number 6 to synchronize with the Galaxy S7 numbering. It is also becoming increasingly likely there will only be an Edge variant produced. Plus, apparently there is going to be a blue color variant among black and silver. Are you excited for the Note7? Stay tuned for more details.
