Your everyday commute could be in for a change, as Google launches a ride sharing called Waze Carpool. The service pays drivers $0.54/mile and limits them to two trips per day which means drivers are only encouraged to pick up fellow commuters on the way to and from their current job. The benefit would be getting paid for gas on the trip you already need to take. This results in significantly cheaper passenger costs when compared to other ride sharing services. Google has yet to announce expansion plans outside of the California Bay Area.

According to reports, the Samsung Note 7 recall could cost the company as much as $1 billon. Samsung recalled 2.5 million units after a few batteries were reported as exploding inside of the phone. The company is reportedly dropping it's own batteries, which powered nearly 70% of the Note 7s in favor of a supply by a Chinese manufacturer that were exempt from the issues. Short term this is definitely a big hit to profits, but long term this recall should help keep the brand in a somewhat good light.
