Last year, Google purchased a chunk of HTC’s smartphone design talent for $1.1 billion. The deal transferred more than 2,000 employees to work on Google’s line of Pixel devices. Now it seems HTC is getting ready to lay off nearly 25% of its current workforce. After these cuts, HTC’s employee count will be less than 5,000 people worldwide.
