via Instagram After months of investigation, Samsung has officially announced the cause of its Galaxy Note 7 explosions. First, the original battery casings were too small to safely fit the electrode assembly inside, which lead to short-circuiting and explosions. Second, welding defects were found inside the batteries of the "safe" replacements causing them to short-circuit and explode as well. Going forward, Samsung will enforce an 8-point battery test to avoid making the same mistakes again.
