According to reports, Apple plans to deploy a fleet of flying drones to help with data collection for Apple Maps. The drones will be analyzing street signs, track changes in roadworks and more. Apple already uses camera and sensor equipped vehicles however, drones can reach places that cars sometimes can't, greatly expanding the reach of the data collection work. The reports state that Apple has hired at least one person from Amazon's Prime Air division to get the project off the ground.
