According to reports, Apple has acquired a facial recognition company called RealFace. This relatively young company developed facial recognition software as an alternative to fingerprint or traditional passwords. The acquisition is said to be worth “several million dollars,” but neither company has commented on the deal. The timing of the acquisition only adds fuel to the fire of rumors, as its been speculated several times that Apple is developing biometric technologies like facial recognition as a replacement for Touch ID.
